HONEST AS AN OX
One of the main characteristics of a person belonging to the Chinese Ox zodiac is honesty. While some find it blunt, for the individual, it is a sign of sincerity.

To manifest honesty's bluntness, wood has been used as the main material for its hardness. The angularity and rigidity of the lantern's form further reinforces this attribute. Sa Paper was used to represent sincerity for its softness.
ACCESSING THE CANDLE-HOLDER
By pulling the tab below the upper frame of the lantern, the user can easily access the candle-holder. A pull-down motion was chosen as it prevents the shade from burning while inserting the candle.
EASE OF CARRYING

The upper frame of the lantern features 3 protruded elements that allow users to carry the lantern, illuminating their path ahead.
